Anupam Kher: India should refrain from playing Pakistan till border situation settles
Veteran actor Anupam Kher has expressed his opinion against the resurrection of cricketing ties with the tumultuous neighbors Pakistan, until the situations and the sentiments of the people get subdued.Kher is currently stationed in Jharkhand for the shooting of the much-awaited Mahendra Singh Dhoni biopic, where he portrays the Indian captain’s father, Pan SIngh. He also added that diplomacy matters should be resolved by the government prior to engagement in sports, culture, art and music with any neighbor or country for that matter.
Citing the recent gruesome murder of Santosh Mahadik in a shootout against the militants at the Kashmir border, Anupam Kher mentioned that proceeding with the bilateral series would mean disparaging the sentiments of the bereaved family who lost a besotted member. He strove to convey that sensitivity towards melancholic citizens and serious issues should be given a priority and cricket matches should be deferred for the time being.Overwhelmed, he also postulated that cricketing ties could be resumed only if innocent people would not be murdered.
India and Pakistan are scheduled to play a bilateral series soon. While the fate of the series hangs in the balance with Indian government still in the process and contemplation of provision of clearance, the Pakistan government has cleared the proposal from the other side, corroborating the resumption of cricketing ties.India last played a series against Pakistan in 2007 after which Pakistan toured India for a short series in 2013, which India lost 2-1.
