With the Australian media still targeting Virat Kohli for the numerous controversies that have erupted during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series, former BCCI president Anurag Thakur has lashed out at the Australian media and has called their behaviour ‘disgraceful’. Thakur also came down heavily on the cricket boards of both the countries for the way they have sorted out the whole issue.
Virat Kohli has been the centre of controversy ever since he accused Australia of taking inputs from the dressing room on DRS referrals in the second Test in Bengaluru. The already tensed situation was further deteriorated when the Indian star criticised the visiting team for allegedly taunting Team India physio Patrick Farhart, who was treating Kohli after he injured himself while trying to save a run in the third Test in Ranchi.
The Aussie media severely criticised Kohli for his allegations and The Daily Telegraph recently compared him with the USA president Donald Trump. The news outlet went on to say: “Soft cricketing administrators have given rise to a bat-wielding Trump.”
After that, Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland took a dig at Kohli during a radio show.
Thakur tweeted:“DISGRACEFUL behaviour by Australian media & @CricketAus officials in the way they are talking abt a legend of the game @viratkohli (sic.)”

In his next tweet, Thakur targeted the BCCI for ‘compromising the integrity of Team India captain’. With the DRS controversy taking the centre-stage after the conclusion of the second Test, both the cricket boards decided to bury the hatchet by holding a meeting. The Indian cricket board, which had filed a complaint against Steve Smith and Peter Handscomb, later withdrew the complaint. However, Thakur feels that the BCCI let the Indian players down by not taking a stand for them. He also accused Cricket Australia of being ‘arrogant’ during the whole situation.
What sort of 'truce' ws this? @BCCI compromised the integrity of their #TeamIndia Capt @imVkohli & didn't stand by their players & team. 2/3
