Anurag Thakur Credits Rahul Dravid For KL Rahul, Karun Nair’s Good Show
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur has credited India A coach Rahul Dravid for youngsters’ good show in recent times. The likes of Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal have benefited a lot by spending time with the legendary batsman and the latest player to reap the reward is Karun Nair.
The Karnataka batsman, who was a part of the India A team that toured Australia earlier this year, became the second Indian batsman after Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in Test cricket when he scored 303* against England in the ongoing Test at Chennai. The 25-year-old led India’s strong reply to England’s massive first innings total as the hosts finished on 759 for 7, their highest score in the longest format of the game. Another youngster, who impressed one and all, was Karun’s state teammate KL Rahul. The opening batsman scored 199 and laid the foundation for a big score.
Jayant Yadav, who accompanied Nair to Australia, has also performed really well in the series. The Haryana all-rounder has scored 221 runs including a century and a fifty and has also claimed nine scalps.
Speaking to the ANI, the BCCI president said:“I congratulate Team India for this extraordinary performance. Young Karun Nair in his third innings, at the age of 25, has scored a triple century which is a big-big achievement. Heartiest congratulations to him.”
“It is the hard work which has been put by the cricketers. But much credit goes to Rahul Dravid, who has been bestowed the responsibility of nurturing them at under 19 level and India A sides, which gives them a platform to do well at that level and when they come to play at the senior level, they try and give their best. So, I think they are groomed well under Rahul Dravid,” he concluded.
