Anurag Thakur Promises Deaf Cricketers to give Rs 5 Crore
Newly-elected BCCI President Anurag Thakur has promised help of Rs five crore to the deaf and dumb cricketers, according to Deaf Cricket Society (DCS). DCS officials met Thakur and congratulated him for becoming the President of the Indian Cricket Board.
“It is highly appreciable that immediately after becoming President Anurag Thakur announced Rs 5 crore help towards deaf and dumb and visually impaired cricketers for the next five years,” a press release stated.
Besides that, BCCI has approached former cricketers who have completed their career with India and are not willing to go ahead with the post.
A top BCCI official said, “We had spoken to a few people but most of them were reluctant citing they needed to be with their families. The jib of Indian team’s coach would mean being away from their families for long periods. The coaching profiles have changed over the past few years. Nobody wants to endure pressure and strain that comes with being with Team India all through the year. They prefer to have shorter stints with IPL and Big Bash League (BBL) teams, which gives them good money and also a lot of free time to spend with families.”
