Armaan Jaffer set to make his Ranji debut for Mumbai 1

Armaan Jaffer, who played U-19 World Cup for India in Bangladesh, has been named in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad for the first time. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced their  15 man squad to Saturday  for their opening fixture against Tamil Nadu in Lahli starting on October 6.

Jaffer in the warm match against New Zealand scored 69 at Feroze Shah Kotla.

Mumbai will be led by Aditya Tare, who led Mumbai to their 41st Ranji Trophy title last  year, will continue to lead the side that includes seasoned players like Abhishek Nayar, Dhawal Kulkarni, Suryakarni Yadav and Shardul Thakur.

Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer was the highest run accumulator last season but ruled out from Mumbai’s opening  due to a quadriceps injury.

Sufiyan Shaikh, the wicketkeeper-batsman who made his first-class debut earlier  this year against Jharkhand, has also been included. The squad also sees familiar faces Kaustubh Pawar and Jay Bista and Akhil Herwadkar, who were key to Mumbai’s successful campaign last year.
