More Arrests Made In PSL Spot-Fixing Scandal 1
Islamabad United won the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League in 2016.

Things look further gloomy for the already stained Pakistan Super League (PSL) as another arrest has been made with regards to tournament’s already infamous spot-fixing scandal. A couple of weeks ago, the PCB banned opener Sharjeel Khan and batsman Khalid Latif for alleged corrupt activities and not meeting with the PCB anti-corruption norms. The two were suspended indefinitely and returned home and could well face a life ban for their involvement.

Soon, discarded opener Nasir Jamshed was arrested in England for his involvement in the spot-fixing episode and being in touch with bookies. Jamshed though, was later released on a bail till April. The British Police confirmed that on Thursday, another man, probably in his 30’s, was arrested for the spot-fixing episode.

Further details about who the third individual is remain unknown but it is understood the person in custody will be thoroughly interrogated.

PSL head honcho Najam Sethi recently mentioned the PCB is well aware about the scandal.

“We were not sure whether to make the announcement before the PSL began as we feared it could hit the event or after the match but we decided to wait and see what happened in the match and then we sent them back. We were worried how the whole thing could affect the PSL and its reputation but we took a decision which we felt was right,” Sethi said.

“Let me assure you we have now taken a decision that we will show zero tolerance for corrupt players and there is no question of trying to protect anyone. If any other player is found involved after the investigations no leniency will be shown to him.”
