Paul Pogba, the Manchester United heavyweight has not been on the top of his game since he has arrived from Juventus last summer. But his not so good form would not affect his place in the starting lineup as he is a top player and Manchester United would obviously need him for the big clash against Arsenal today. However, Pogba could have easily been on the other side if Arsenal had successfully landed him in 2012.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger tried to land him when he left United four years ago. Despite interests from Arsenal and a chance to play in the toughest league in the world Pogba decided to join Serie A giants Juventus who also showed interest in him.
Arsene quoted in 2014 “Things happened very quickly. We were interested in him”
“We tried to get him to come here. But he very quickly signed for Juventus.”
Wenger’s wanting of Pogba back in 2012 was provoked by the pain of some of his players leaving from the north London side. The players who left included the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song both of whom left for European giants Barcelona.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United would be desperate to win the clash and bag maximum points from the fixture. Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger do not share a good relationship as they have a bitter history with each other. Therefore, this clash would be of paramount importance and Pogba would be looking to score in 3 consecutive games at Old Trafford. Arsenal sits at 4th place in the table just two points less than league leaders Liverpool whereas United find themselves struggling at the 6th place with 18 points from 11 games.
