The Women in Blue had gone on to beat the likes of New Zealand and Australia to make it to the final where their fairy-tale journey came to an end with a heartbreaking loss to England by just nine runs.

But despite the loss, the women have been showered with praise and adulation. The heroic performance has also done wonder to women’s game in the country. Speaking to Sportswallah, Kamaraj said he is not planning to make a biopic but is instead looking to make a sports drama. Kamaraj also revealed that he got the idea of making the film after meeting a lot of female cricketers from Tamil Nadu. He also said that instead of casting actors, he is looking to give the roles to real cricketers.

“I am planning to cast real cricketers. But I don’t know whether it will work out because I want cricketers in the film, who can act. I want someone who is a cricketer and knows acting as well. Casting is very important in this film. I am looking out for people who are interested to be a part of this film,” he said.

The director further lauded India’s World Cup heroes and hoped that the ongoing year would be a great one for them.

“I think every cricketer in the team is a hero. This team is full of heroes and when they played the World Cup, I expected them to play the finals. According to me, this year will be a great year for women’s cricket. I will be very grateful if any of them are interested to perform in my film. I cannot take one single name I want in the film. Everyone is a hero. I will be happy if anyone if interested to be a part of it,” he said.
