Expressing his grief on the Uri terrorist attack, India Test skipper Virat Kohli has offered his condolences to the families of the victims.
“When these big incidents happen regularly, it feels bad. When we feel bad about it, just think of the families of the soldiers. It’s something very disturbing,” Kohli said during his interaction with the media after the conclusion of the first Test against New Zealand.
“I can react on this but can’t comment on the solution because I am not operating at that level. As an Indian, it hurts. I can only pay my condolences to the families of the jawans, who suffered in these incidents,” he said.
In what can be called as one of the most deadliest attacks on Indian soldiers in recent years, the terrorists attacked an Indian Army brigade headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri on September 18 and killed 18 soldiers. Four militants have also been killed in the gunfight afterwards. Four militants involved in the terror strike were later killed by the Army.

Meanwhile, the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series after thrashing the Kiwis by 197 runs. Chasing an improbable target of 434 to win, the visitors could manage only 236. R Ashwin was the destructor in chief as he took five wickets to derail New Zealand’s chase. Ravindra Jadeja was the Man of the Match for his all-round display.
