Mark Waugh got the number four slot in Ponting’s Ashes squad, as he has a good Ashes record, better than his overall Test record. Waugh, scored a brilliant century in his debut Ashes match and averaged well over 50 in encounters against England.
Ponting also pointed out Waugh can bowl some off-spin and medium pace whenever needed and is capable of chipping up with one or two wickets at the crunch situations.
