Ashes 2019: Australia Announce 12-Member Squad For 2nd Test, Mitchell Starc Gets The Nod
After the successful first Test, now, its time for the Australians to head to Lords for the second Test. Meanwhile, in the latest development, they revealed their 12-member list available for the second Test. The fast bowler Mitchell Starc is back in the mix alongside Josh Hazlewood while James Pattinson misses out.
The Edgbaston Test was Pattinson’s first Test in three-and-a-half years after suffering a series of devastating back injuries that led to the right-arm bowler undergoing radical surgery. He finally made a comeback but registered poor figures of 2-111 from 35 overs.
Josh Hazlewood also finds a place:
For the same, they opted to chose one between Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc to replace him. Meanwhile, the team management chose to stick with the same batting lineup despite failing to tackle the England attack. Apart from Steve Smith, Matthew Wade and Travis Head, none of them looked comfortable in the middle.
Australia is high on confidence after their emphatic win in Birmingham and would want to extend their lead in the five-match series. It was not just Smith’s brilliance which would have pleased the management.
Matthew Wade’s fluent century in the second innings and brilliant bowling from off-spinner Nathan Lyon would have also instilled a lot of confidence in the visitor’s dressing room.
They would be taking on Hosts, who will aim to bounce back and level the series when they meet in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s beginning Wednesday.
England will be without the services of their premier fast bowler James Anderson who suffered a calf injury after bowling just four overs on an opening day in Birmingham. However, they brought Jofra Archer into the mix.
Australia squad for second Ashes 2019 Test:
Tim Paine (c/wk), David Warner, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Matthew Wade, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Peter Siddle, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
