T20I series gives us a chance:
Nortje, Bavuma and Bjorn Fortuin have been handed T20 call-ups. South Africa look to identify a pool of players for the 2020 T20 World Cup. Surprisingly, Faf du Plessis isn’t part of the squad.
“The T20 Series gives us the last chance to have a look at our leadership. And also, batting options as the next edition of the ICC T20 World Cup is now little more than a year away. It is why we have gone with an inexperienced leadership group. This is our last chance to do this before we settle on an established squad.
Rudi Seconds showed his class:
In the following, three-match Test series that begins in October, Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday announced new caps in fast bowler Anrich Nortje, wicketkeeper/batsman Rudi Seconds and spin bowling allrounder Senuran Muthusamy.
”All three newcomers to the Test side have more than earned their spurs. It was through impressive performances in last season’s Four-Day Franchise competition,” said van Zyl. However, we feel we have covered all the options for the conditions. Which, we are likely to encounter on the sub-continent with Muthusamy and Dane Piedt.”
In the aftermath of the World Cup debacle, South Africa have launched their bid for a revamp to their cricketing culture. Recently, senior team members like Aiden Markram, Zubayr Hamza and Temba Bavuma have been picked to travel to India for the specialist camp.
