Since his international debut in the middle of this year, Jofra Archer has highly impressed with his bowling skills. Australian cricketer Steven Smith praised Archer and has claimed that Barbados-born English pacer is a very special talent.

Jofra Archer made his international debut in May 2019. After showcasing his capacity in very early career, Archer entered the 15-member World Cup squad for England in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. His dominating bowling hugely helped England to win the CWC 2019, their first-ever Cricket World Cup trophy.

Archer bagged 20 wickets in 11 matches during the CWC 2019, joint third-most wicket-taker in that tournament. However, it was the most wickets for an English bowler in a CWC edition.

Then, the 24-year-old Jofra Archer made his Test debut in the second game of Ashes 2019. The right-arm pacer once again dominated in that series. Archer managed 22 wickets in four matches and finished this series as the third most wicket-taker. He scared many Aussie batsmen during the Ashes 2019.

Archer also injured the Australian cricketer Steven Smith. However, unbeatable Smith was in no mood to lose against Archer. Smith finished this series as the leading run-scorer as he scored 774 runs in seven innings with an average of 110.57. Apart from the last innings, where he scored 23 runs, Smith managed 50+ scores in every innings of Ashes 2019. His other scores in this series were – 144, 142, 92, 211, 82 and 80 runs respectively.

Jofra Archer has got a very bright future – Steven Smith

Smith and Archer are the teammates in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they have played for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2019.

After the Ashes 2019, the 30-year-old Smith praised Archer. The former Aussie captain has claimed that Archer is a very special talent which he realized since their IPL meeting. Smith has further added that Archer has a very bright future.

Smith said, “I saw Jofra last year at the IPL and realized he is a very special talent. He has got a very bright future.”

Jofra Archer is playing the IPL since 2018. He took 15 wickets in IPL 2018 and 11 wickets in IPL 2019.
