England Test captain Joe Root got tremendous luck in the early of his innings on the day two of the first Test of Ashes 2019. He survived from the bowled dismissal as once again the ball hit the stumps, but the bails didn’t dislodge.

In recent time, we have seen this kind of bizarre incident numerous times. During the IPL 2019 and the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019, this incident repeatedly happened when the bails refused to move despite the ball hit the stumps.

Now, the cricket fans experienced it again in the early Ashes 2019. In the morning session of the day two of the Edgbaston (Birmingham) Test, Root survived from that incident. On the final ball of the 21st over of England’s innings, during James Pattinson‘s over, Australia had a caught behind appeal against Root, and the bowling end umpire Joel Wilson raised his finger to give it out.

In no time, confident Root went for the review. The replay and UltraEdge confirmed that the ball just missed touching Root’s bat. However, the replay and UltraEdge also showed that the ball kissed the top of the off-stump. But, the English Test captain was lucky as the bails remained intact on their places. So the umpire Joel Wilson changed his decision to the not out. At that time, Root was batting on just nine runs while he had a partnership of 31 runs with the opener Rory Burns for the second wicket.
