Australia assistant coach Daniel Vettori feels the England team is successful in playing the aggressive brand of Test cricket, which has suited them in the past year or so, as the team has earned the required result in the longer format of the game bringing up new excitement in Test Cricket.
The Australian team will have a long summer in England, starting from the highly anticipated World Test Championship final against India, followed by the much-awaited Ashes 2023. England’s team is playing an aggressive brand of cricket which is termed “Bazball” going for the win in every match they play in test cricket under their new skipper Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum.
Speaking ahead of the all-important summer for the Aussies, Daniel Vettori feels the England team is playing the winning cricket in the red-ball format, as they could do that for a longer period in International since Ben Stokes took over the captaincy and hailed the Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum for bringing that positivity in the England team.
“Irrespective of the style they (England) are using, they’re playing winning cricket and that’s the thing everyone gravitates towards, The fact that they’ve played so well over an extended period has been what’s so impressive.
“Brendon wouldn’t want to make attention about himself, but he’s got this moniker going for him now. That’s Brendon since he came out of the womb – he’s pretty positive. England keep coming and so you’ve got to anticipate that and not back off,” Daniel Vettori said.
With Ben Stokes taking over captaincy under Brendon McCullum’s coaching England is redefining test cricket with their approach and they will do well against Australia on the home soil. England’s cricket team has been in a purple patch in the world of cricket. The team has been enjoying success in both the white-ball format and the red-ball format.
Ben Stokes Is One Of The Top All-rounders In World Cricket – Daniel Vettori
Former New Zealand Spinner Daniel Vettori lauded England red-ball skipper Ben Stokes for his all-round ability in test cricket as he played a vital role in team success in the past year and reckons that Australia is blessed to a have Cameron Green in the side, as he provides the balance in the team.
“We’re preparing for him to be his normal self, He’s one of the top all-rounders in world cricket. We know how much he brings to the table as an all-rounder. It’s like Cameron Green for us, offering that balance and ability to come in and be an aggressive weapon along with his batting, which has been exceptional.
Vettori was elated to play in the World Test Championship against India ahead of the Ashes 2023 and said that everyone in the team is pumped for the exciting times ahead in England.
“There’s a real excitement that we can play one of the best teams in the world in such a crucial game and that should set us up well for the Ashes, It’s six Tests of high intensity and you couldn’t ask for anything more,” Daniel Vettori added.
Ben Stokes and Co. lost only one out of their 10 home Tests last year, including a 3-0 clean sweep of New Zealand and their form has been outstanding in the past 12 months, giving them the best chance of regaining it. The most exciting Ashes this year is scheduled to begin on June 16, with the first Test to be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
