Moeen Ali suffered a groin injury during his batting innings, as he could not play at his usual best after injuring himself trying to take a single during the game. The England all-rounder’s form has been cause concern for his team in the ongoing series, as he could not make a significant impact for the team in the test series.
Speaking to the media after the end of Day 1, Harry Brook revealed that Moeen Ali’s injury is not looking good at the moment but he is hopeful that he can come in and bowl some overs for the team in the next four days, hailing him as one of the top players for the team.

“He’s not looking too good at the minute, hopefully, he can come and bowl some overs for us. He’s been a vital player for us, he’s a top player, hopefully, he gets better soon,” Harry Brook said.
Harry Brook was the star performer for England with the bat in the 1st innings, as he batted exceptionally well in the tough conditions at the Oval. The youngster played a counter-attacking knock of 85 runs hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes to help England post a total of 283 in the 1st innings.
Moeen Ali Was In Lot Of Pain So There Weren’t Going To Be Many Twos – Harry Brook
Harry Brook hailed the England veteran Moeen Ali as one of the best power hitters in the world and reckons that he was more aggressive in the 1st innings after picking up a groin injury in the middle and revealed that he was in a lot of pain so that they could not run many twos in their batting innings.

“He’s one of the best power hitters in the world so there’s not many better men to have out there if you want him to go and smack it. The way he went about it after his injury was perfect.
“We could have easily got [some singles] because they started to put everybody back as soon as he played a few big shots, but he was in a lot of pain so there weren’t going to be many twos,” Harry Brook added.
Moeen Ali’s bowling will be crucial for the England team in the must-win final test against the mighty Australian batters, as they have got three left-handers in the batting lineup and the pitch offered some assistance to the bowlers on Day 1 and would further deteriorate going the next four days.
