Australia’s Assistant coach Daniel Vettori has revealed that the Australian team management is confident of their star pacer Mitchell Starc bowling on Day 3 after landing heaving on his left shoulder on the Day of the crucial fourth test in Manchester.

The left-arm pacer hurt his shoulder diving to stop the ball by Harry Brook in the 65th over and walked out off the field due to pain and returned to the field on the final hour to bowl his last spell on the third but could not bowl after struggling to throw the ball during the fielding.

In conversation with the media after the end of Day 2’s play, Daniel Vettori expressed his confidence in the availability of the left-arm pacer for the rest of the game, as he got some ice on his shoulder and believes that he should be good enough to bowl on Day 3 of the game.

“I think the leg is good, no issues there. The shoulder, we saw what happened in the field, he’s currently got some ice on it and we’re pretty confident it will be right tomorrow,” Daniel Vettori said.

Mitchell Starc has done exceedingly well for the Australian team recently as their primary new ball bowler. In this game too, he provided the much-needed breakthrough at the top of the order picking up the crucial wickets of Ben Duckett and Moeen Ali before being dealt with an injury.

Mitchell Starc Didn’t Quite Feel Comfortable Throwing It – Daniel Vettori

Daniel Vettori said that he doesn’t like to be out of the game for a longer time, as he wants to get into the field after getting some treatment on his shoulder and asserted that he wasn’t quite comfortable throwing the balls due to a bad shoulder but is confident that he would bounce back from his injury on Day 3.

“He’s one of those guys who doesn’t like to spend too long off the park. But he got straight into a hot spot and three balls in a row came to him in the field and he didn’t quite feel comfortable throwing it. I haven’t actually spoken to him but that’s what it looked [like]. We’re all pretty confident he can bounce back tomorrow,” Daniel Vettori added.

England is well on top at the end of the Day 2 play, as they comfortably lead the Australian team by 67 runs in the 1st innings with six wickets in hand and they will look to post massive 1st innings score in the 4th test to pose a tough challenge for the Australian team to win or draw this game for this position on Day 2.
