Asia Cup 2018: Afghanistan Cricketer Wafadar Momand Ruled out with a Back Injury
Young seamer from Afghanistan, Wafadar Momand will miss the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 starting from September 15 at the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will square off in the curtain raise on September 15. On the other hand, Afghanistan will start their campaign on September 17 against Sri Lanka.
Wafadar Momand sustained a back pain during the training period ahead of the Asia Cup 2018. He had a nerve depression in his back, and the doctors advised to take the rest for good six weeks to be back on track.
Yamin Ahmadzai will replace Wafadar Momand in Asia Cup 2018
Meanwhile, Yamin Ahmadzai would replace Wafadar Momand for the tournament. He is already travelling with the team as a reserve player for the prestigious event. Yamin also had a successful stint with the team in the recent times.
Wafadar stole the limelight when he featured in Afghanistan’s historic Test match against India. He picked the wickets of Murali Vijay and Hardik Pandya during his impressive spell of fast bowling.
However, the loss of Wafadar is a big setback for the team, as he got the required goods to deliver for his country. Earlier, an injury also ruled out their premium fast bowler Dawlat Zadran.
Meanwhile, veteran fast bowler Dawlat Zadran, who sustained a knee injury ahead of Afghanistan’s T20I series against Bangladesh in June earlier this year, has been advised the period of further six weeks to complete his rehabilitation.
