The All-India Senior Selection Committee will pick the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup on September 1. The Indian selectors will meet in Mumbai to select the Indian squad for the forthcoming tournament.

Meanwhile, India’s ongoing tour of England will conclude on 11 September. Thus, the Virat Kohli men will have only four days in between the completion of England’s tour and commencement of Asia Cup. However, the limited overs specialist will make their way into the squad.

India is the most successful side in the Asia Cup.

India A and India B recently took part in the Quadrangular series. Therefore, the recent performances will come into play when the selectors meeting will take place.

Manish Pandey scored a truckload of runs in the Quadrangular series. Thus, he has made a strong case for himself to be included in the squad. Furthermore, Mayank Agarwal has continued to impress with the bat. Therefore, the Karnataka batsman will also be in contention to get his much-deserved place.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to note whether Ambati Rayudu will find a place in the squad. The Hyderabad batsman was included in the limited overs series against England. However, he was excluded after he failed the Yo-Yo Test.

In fact, the main players can get some rest as they were on a long tour of England.

On the other hand, Asia Cup 2018 will begin from 15 September in the UAE. The final of the tournament will take place in Dubai on 30 September. India is the most successful side in the competition as they have won the tournament on six occasions.

Men in Blue are also the defending champions as they won the 2016 edition of Asia Cup. Thus, Virat Kohli men will like to defend their title. India will begin their Asia Cup when they will lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan on 19 September.
