With each passing day, the much-awaited Asia Cup 2022 is inching closer. The fifteenth edition of the tournament is less than a month away. The continental championship is making a return after a gap of four years.
The previous edition was played in 2018 in the UAE when India beat Bangladesh in the final to win a record-extending seventh Asia Cup title. India will be the favourites for the upcoming edition too as they look to defend their title.
A total of six teams will be participating in the forthcoming tournament. Asia Cup 2022 will be played in the T20 format, thus giving the teams the opportunity to prepare for this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. So before the tournament gets underway, here are all the details you need to ensure that you don’t miss out on any action.
Asia Cup venue and host:
United Arabia Emirates (UAE) have been finally announced as the Asia Cup 2022 venue. Originally, Sri Lanka were picked as the venue for the competition. “Considering the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka, the ACC after extensive deliberation has unanimously concluded that it would be appropriate to relocate the tournament from Sri Lanka to UAE,” a release from the ACC read.
