Bangladesh Pacer Ebadot Hossain’s participation in the ODI World Cup 2023 is still uncertain as he has very little time to regain his full fitness ahead of the marquee event in India. The 29-year-old has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 tournament after suffering a knee injury during the Afghanistan series.

Ebadot Hossain has been a vital player for Bangladesh in the white-ball format of the game since his debut for the team picking up 22 wickets in 12 matches for the team. He played a vital role for Bangladesh in their historic win against India last year on their home soil.

According to the reports in Cricbuzz, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed that Ebadot Hossain will miss out on the ODI World Cup 2023 if requires surgery for his injury and it is revealed that he requires at least two to three months to become fully fit in the game but the management will not have the luxury having of that time before the World Cup.

“If he requires surgery, he will almost certainly miss the World Cup. The cricket board is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness.

“While we’ve provided him with a workload, Ebadot has struggled to manage it effectively. His inability to cope with the intensity resulted in his exclusion from the Asia Cup squad.

“Though there’s a chance he could manage it with two to three more months, time is a luxury we lack. The World Cup squad announcement is imminent, and the coach needs clarity on his condition to shape his strategies accordingly,” it reads.

Ebadot Hossain will be missed for the Bangladesh team in the Asia Cup 2023 as he can be crucial in middle overs and death overs for the team. Taskin Ahmed will spearhead the team’s pace attack in the Asia Cup and Mustafizur Rahman will also be a crucial player for the team in the coming series as he can be lethal for the team in the death overs.

After Ebadot Hossain was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2023, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named uncapped pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib as his replacement for the continental tournament. He also was part of the team for the recently concluded ACC Emerging Men’s Asia Cup.
