Former Pakistan pacer Sarfraz Nawaz feels that Pakistan has a more settled unit than arch-rivals India coming into the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023. Babar Azam-led side has been performing consistently well in International Cricket over the last few years.
Many experts and fans believe Pakistan will start as one of the favourites to lift the ODI World Cup 2023, set to be played in India in October and November, as they have got a formidable team going into the mega event, as they have got excellent batters and bowlers to do well in the Sub Continental conditions.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Sarfraz Nawaz said that Pakistan has a well-oiled unit compared to the Indian team going into the mega events this year and feels that the Men in Blue have lost their plot in their playing combination in ICC events and asserted that the Indian team would also have high expectation of playing in the home soil.
“Pakistan has a much more settled and stable outfit for the Asia Cup and World Cup when compared to India. The Indians have still not been able to work out their final combination for these major events. Captains are changing, many new players are being tried out, and there are no proper combinations. I feel instead of developing the Indian side it is being destroyed,”
“They are always high expectations when you play at home and it creates more pressure. India’s plus point is they have some good senior performers,” Sarfraz Nawaz said.
The Men in Green will fancy their chances of coming into the marquee event in India, as they have got enough resources in the team to win the championship in India. They have not won the World Cup since clinching their maiden title way back in 1992 and they look to put up an impressive on the Indian soil.
I Am Confident That Pakistan Can Do Really Well In Both of These Events – Sarfraz Nawaz
Sarfraz Nawaz hailed Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi for his lethal bowling with the new ball, who have great control over the swing, seam, and pace in the opening spell, and expressed his confidence in the Men in Green doing well in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
“He is an extraordinary bowler and very very lethal in his first two three overs. I have rarely seen a bowler with such control over swing, seam, pace, and yorkers with the new ball.
“I am confident that Pakistan can do really well in both these events because we have a settled side and Babar Azam is leading them well. I think the selection committee has also picked a very balanced squad for the series against Afghanistan and the Asia Cup,” Sarfraz Nawaz added.
Pakistan has been one of the most improved teams in recent times, as their batters have scored runs all around the world, with their pace attack being one of the most lethal groups in International cricket alongside the spinners, who can outfox the high-quality batters in the Sub-continental conditions.
