Indian veteran pacer Ishant Sharma has picked the Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj as the star performer of India’s fast bowling unit ignoring the likes of experienced Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami. The 29-year-old will be a crucial player for India in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023.

Mohammed Siraj has been India’s most consistent bowler in recent times. The pacer rise in International Cricket has been on the rise since 2022 in all three formats of the game. The right-arm pacer has impressed one and all with his ability to make a difference irrespective of the conditions.

Speaking on Jiocinema, Ishant Sharma has picked Mohammed Siraj as his choice of present star in India’s bowling lineup and believes that Jasprit Bumrah needs to be smart about his game plan going into the World Cup followed by a few emerging stars in the cricket.

“Siraj obviously. Should we add Bumrah or not, depends on fitness. I think Bumrah will have to play smart. There is no Test series until the World Cup, so he has to just play white-ball cricket, After that, Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep, and Umran Malik,” Ishant Sharma said.

The 29-year-old is one of the mainstays in the Indian team especially in the absence of the Jasprit Bumrah. He has shown that he can do damage with the new ball in any format of the game as he can swing and seam the new ball against high-quality opponents alongside death bowling skillsets.

If They Do That, They Have A Big Chance Of Winning The World Cup – Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma feels that India is one of the favourites to win the World Cup on India, as they will have the home advantage going into the 2023 ODI World Cup, and believes that India can challenge the high-quality opponents on their home soil just like the 2011 World Cup.

“
I think we have a great chance. We have the home advantage. You’ll face tough teams but even in 2011, you played against Australia, and you played to your strengths. If they do that, they have a big chance of winning the World Cup,” Ishant Sharma added.

Since the 2011 World Cup, the host nations have got their hands on the prestigious trophy for three consecutive times. Australia won the World Cup in 2015 when they co-hosted with New Zealand and England won the trophy as hosts in 2019 beating New Zealand in a close encounter to win the championship under the leadership of Eoin Morgan.
