Indian middle-order batters Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are unlikely to be picked for the Asia Cup 2023, as the India squad for the much anticipated continental event is set to be announced later this week. According to the reports, the two batters are undergoing rehabilitation in NCA are not fit enough to be picked for the team.
Despite their progress in recovery, Indian team management is not rushing their return to cricket as they will be crucial for India in the mega event later this year. The duo has missed out on the majority of the 2023 season due to the injury but is working to put their best foot forward to be fit for the marquee event in the country after 12 long years.
The absence of Iyer and Rahul in the team would give chance to Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson to be part of the Asia Cup 2023 as they will look to prove their case strong for the ODI World Cup later this year.
