Former Indian head coach Sanjay Bangar has shared some valuable tips with the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma to play the left-arm pacers in the upcoming mega-events. The 36-year-old has found himself struggling against the left-arm fast bowlers in the big events, which led to the team’s failure in the recent mega-events.

Pakistan pacers especially Shaheen Shah Afridi can make things difficult for the Indian opening duo Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill if he gets his rhythm right in the new ball, as he can rattle in the Indian top order batters with swing and seam bowling and the Indian batters are getting themselves ready to face him continental event in Sri Lanka.

In a discussion with Star Sports, Sanjay Bangar emphasized that players do get the opportunity to play against the Left-arm pacers on most occasions, as most of the teams have right-handed bowling attacks in the team and asserted that it is difficult to play the ball from the angle of the left-arm pacers.

“One doesn’t get many chances to play from that angle because most of the teams have a right-hand attack and opening bowling pairs. However, the angle is very crucial in keeping in mind where you want to play as a batsman because when a left-arm bowler bowls from close to the stumps and brings it inwards towards the right-hand batsman,” Sanjay Bangar said.

The 36-year-old could not bring the best out of their players since he took up the mantle from ace batter Virat Kohli, as he failed to win a major trophy captaining the side in the last couple of years and he would look to do well for India with the bat in Sri Lanka.

One Needs To Set Himself And Think Of Scoring Runs… – Sanjay Bangar

Sanjay Bangar feels that batters should be aware of taking on the left-arm pacers, as he said that it is important to have a proper head position to score runs against that kind of bowler and reckons that Rohit Sharma would be focusing on a few aspects of his game to improve himself against the left-arm bowlers going into the continental event and ODI World Cup 2023.

“One should target the bowler, for that, the head position needs to be perfect and one needs to set himself and think of scoring runs between mid-off and mid-on/mid-wicket areas,” Bangar added.

“The batsman will get a chance to get into a better position against that angle bowling and one needs to learn and know where runs can be scored against angle bowling and on what aspects the batsman needs to focus more. So, during practice Rohit would have been focusing on these areas,” Sanjay Bangar further added.

Rohit Sharma’s form will be crucial for the Indian team’s success in the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023, as the team will require him to be at his best going into the mega events as the Men in Blue will be desperate for the end their long-awaited ICC title drought.
