Shreyas Iyer Speaks About His Recovery From Back Injury
Meanwhile, Iyer revealed that he underwent excruciating pain in his back and is now glad to be back with the Indian team, surrounded by happy faces.
“I’m feeling ecstatic to join the team and see happy faces all around. I’m thrilled to be back. To be precise, I had this nerve compression, basically a slipped disc which was compressing the nerve and the pain was going all the way down to the bottom of my tiny toe. Excruciating pain, I wasn’t able to express myself properly about what I’m going through.
After the injury, I was hospitalized for two days. After that, I went back home. I gave myself rest for almost 10 days. Post surgery, I was there for three weeks in London. Because the doctor had to check the progress over a period of time,” Iyer told BCCI.
“Gradually, as we started doing some running sessions, the first running session was extremely tough. See, for me, it is important right now to be in the present and do my routines right. I don’t want to think about what is going to happen beyond and what has happened in the past. So, happy to be here right now and embracing each and every moment,” he added.
India will play Pakistan on September 2nd in Kandy, Sri Lanka in their Asia Cup 2023 opening match.
