Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal has returned home after completing his treatment for his back injury in England. It is reported that the 34-year-old has taken multiple injections to get him fully fit for the forthcoming tournaments.

Tamim Iqbal opted to take injections for the damaged disc between L4 and L5 to keep him available for the upcoming International Cricket assignment which will act as an important preparation for him and his team going into the ODI World Cup later this year in India.

According to reports in Cricbuzz, The Bangladesh skipper’s participation in the Asia Cup 2023 is still in doubt as it usually takes three to four months to recover after taking these injections. It is reported that he would be on complete rest for seven days before starting his rehabilitation process.

“If there is no pain, he should be able to start the rehabilitation after one week and he will increase the intensity of his workload slowly. He will understand where he (Tamim) stands when he gets closer to the high-intensity workload and see whether that pain is coming back or not,” a BCB official said.

Tamim Iqbal is likely to open the batting for the Bangladesh team in the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 and his form will be crucial for his team going into the big event, the Southpaw has been a stalwart of the team since 2007, playing an important role in their team’s win and the veteran is also the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in International Cricket.

Bangladesh batter Tamim Iqbal, who announced his retirement from international cricket on July 6, has reversed his decision after intervention from Bangladesh’s Prime Minister and is expected to lead the team in the mega event later this year.

The Bangladesh team is expected to be underdogs going into the Asia Cup 2023 as the team has got some quality players on the side, with their experience can come in handy in Asian conditions.

They have defeated many high-quality opponents in their home conditions in recent times and they will be full of confidence going into the continental event. They will look to utilize their experience to do well in the sub-continental conditions in the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup later this year.

Bangladesh team will start their preparation for the continental event in Dhaka as they will undergo a medical test and yo-yo test on August 3  and the skill camp will start on August 8, with key players participating in the camp, whereas few star players will miss out the camp due to their franchise commitments in Lankan Premier League and Global T20.
