Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that the senior duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who will lead the charge for the Indian team against Pakistan, will be under pressure to perform for India on Saturday. The Men in Blue will be keen to start their Asia Cup campaign with a win on Saturday in Kandy.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be crucial for the team’s success in the continental event, as both batsmen are the most experienced players for India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The veterans have ample amount of experience playing in Sri Lankan conditions over the last few years.
Speaking to India Today, Harbhajan Singh feels that the Indian team is ready for the game against Pakistan, as the team has been practicing hard in a preparatory camp in Alur, Bangalore.
Singh believes that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be keen to perform for the team in their opening game of the continental event.
“I believe India must be ready for this game. They’ve been practicing hard. On the last tour of the West Indies, many players like Rohit and Virat were not part of the series. But India versus Pakistan is always a special game. It’s a high-pressure game. Kohli, Rohit, and the other guys will be very keen to showcase their talent,” Harbhajan Singh said.
“There’s always pressure on senior players. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma need to lead from the front. There will be huge pressure on Kohli and Rohit to perform because they are the most senior players. But they’ve always come good against Pakistan and hopefully, they will come good tomorrow as well,” Harbhajan Singh added.
The Indian team will fancy their chances of coming into the marquee event, as they have got good players in the team to win the Asia Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will look to inspire the team to win the championship.

Harbhajan Singh has named the young Indian opener Shubman Gill as another player to watch out for in the clash against Pakistan and backs the opener to come good against the Men in Green. The youngster has impressed everyone in his short white-ball career.
“Someone like Shubman Gill will be playing his first match against Pakistan, in a high-voltage match. He will be keen to perform. I believe India is ready for this competition,” Harbhajan Singh further added.
Shubman Gill has been in terrific form, since the start of 2023. He smashed two hundreds and a double hundred in ODI cricket. The youngster has been performing exceedingly well for the Indian team in the 50-over format and can be crucial for the team’s success in the Asia Cup.
