Young Indian opener Shubman Gill is India’s highest scorer in the yo-yo test ahead of the high-octane Asia Cup 2023. The Indian batter is top-scored among the players with 18.7 and proved his incredible fitness for the team going into the continental event in Sri Lanka.
Team India has been their preparation for the Asia Cup 2023 with a preparatory camp in Alur, Bangalore, as The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has organized a short camp to get the team fully ready for the marquee event starting on August 30.
According to the reports in PTI, Indian players Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma have surpassed the fitness level of the cut-off level of 16.5, while the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has scored 17.2 in the Yo-Yo test. According to the reports in PTI.
“The YoYo test being an aerobic endurance fitness test, the results could vary from when you last played and how much of workload you have gone through in the past week”.

“Gill as of now has the highest score of 18.7. Most of the players have scored between 16.5 and 18, If the players have a gap between two tournaments, the National Cricket Academy’s sports science team along with the sports staff of India team does conduct all the mandatory tests.
Shubman Gill has been in terrific form, since the start of 2023, as he smashed two hundred and a double hundred in ODI cricket the youngster has been performing exceedingly well for the Indian team in the 50-over format and can be crucial for the team’s success in the Asia Cup 2023.
Earlier, A Special program was designed by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in consultation with the fitness trainers and physios to have a fair idea about the body conditions of the players ahead of the preparatory camp in Bangalore.

It is said that the players were asked to do proper gym, take a certain amount of Protein, walk and run, swim, and do yoga sessions alongside a proper sleep cycle after the West Indies tour.
The BCCI and team management does not want to take any chance with the fitness of the players going into the marquee events this year, as it is one of the main reason behind the poor performance of the team in recent ICC events.
