Batting legend VVS Laxman selected a dream Indian ODI XI on the sidelines of Australia-India series to take on the Aussies.
As expected the former India batsman went for a genius One Day eleven featuring the legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble.
The criteria for selection was that players should have played in Australia and since 1985. But Laxman omitted from the list, which also has three active players.
The 41-year-old opted to Ganguly to lead the side ahead of Mahendra Singh, who also featured the XI as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
In the XI, Ganguly will open the innings with Sachin Tendulkar. Laxman buoyant on the success of the opening duo. They together hit 20 ODI hundred run partnership. As a result, Virender Sehwag did not find a place in the team.
Virat Kohli’s India’s current batting sensation who bats at No. 3 has been considered for his outstanding performance at his current batting positions. Followed by former captain Mohammad Azharuddin comes at four, ahead of Yuvraj Singh. Wicketkeeper Dhoni will bat ahead legendary bowling allrounder Kapil Dev.
Talking about the bowling department, Laxman looked at that bowling trio-Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra- who under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy helped India to win many matches at home as well as overseas
