India lost the first match of the year. A partnership of 242 runs between George Bailey and Steve Smith has made Indian bowler look like pedestrian. India’s best spinner Ravichandran Ashwin proved too much in the middle of the action. As Steve Smith and George Bailey reached their respective hundred they onslaught Indian bowlers.
Bailey scored 112 before caught in the long on in a bid to hit six. Rohit Sharma hit a brilliant 171. But his record-breaking has gone in vain as Steve Smith and Bailey snatched the match away the match from India.
However, India got a brilliant start from debutant bowler Barinder Sran who sent back both Australian opener Aaron Finch and David Warner. But, Bailey and Smith changed the course of the match with brilliant centuries. Sran took three wickets including the wicket of Steve Smith who scored 149.
