Brilliant performances from South African pacers – Kyle Abbott and Kagiso Rabada has piled more misery on a woeful Australian team, who have now lost its fifth Test in a row.
Needing to score at least 241 to make South Africa bat once again in the match, Steve Smith’s men resumed the fourth day at 121-2, with the hope of saving the match on an overcast day. However, the hosts continued their dismal performance with the willow and were folded for a paltry 161. Apart from David Warner, Usman Khawaja and Smith, none of the Aussie players could reach the double-digit mark. Abbott was at his devastating best by claiming a man-of-the-match 6-77. He was ably supported by first match hero Rabada, who took four scalps. The Proteas won the match by an innings and 40 runs and have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series. South Africa have now won three consecutive Test series in Australia.

Australia batted only 558 balls in this Test. Last time they batted so few balls in a home Test loss? Don Bradman’s debut, 1928 #AUSvSA
