Australia Announces Squad For Bangladesh Tour; Mitchell Starc Dropped, Hilton Cartwright Included
Australia has made some notable exclusions from the Test squad for the tour to Bangladesh. Fast bowling spearhead Mitchell Starc and spinner Steve O’Keefe have been dropped from the side, whereas, Hilton Cartwright has made a comeback in the team, after not being included for the Test series against India.

While Starc has been dropped as a precautionary measure to get fit for the Ashes, where England will tour the country to defend their Urn. On the other hand, Steve O’ Keefe has been dropped for a poor show after the conclusion of the first Test against India. It was earlier reported that he will be dropped from the side due to the form and off-field controversies. His exclusion meant that Ashton Agar was the only left-arm spinner in the selected line-up.
Mitchell Swepson, who was one of the four spinners during the tour to India has also been dropped from the squad. Injured Mitchell Marsh was not considered for a place in the side, whereas, Marcus Stonis and Jackson Bird were the other players who did not get a place for the Bangladesh series.
James Pattinson is a notable inclusion. He was part of Australia squad for the Champions Trophy. Australia was earlier scheduled to travel Bangladesh in the year 2015, will now land in the country on August 18 before playing a practice game to assimilate to the conditions there.
The first Test of the series will kick off on August 27 before they conclude series after playing the second Test which starts on September 4.
