The team management has called in KK Jiyas, a chinaman bowler from Kerala, for their net session. The Keralite bowled to Australian batsmen in Chennai, and this is one of the ways opted by Australia to learn and grasp the art of playing chinaman bowling,

“S. Sriram (Australian team consultant) called me to bowl against their batsmen. But for David Warner and Aaron Finch (who is injured), I bowled to all the other top batsmen and troubled a few of them. Glenn Maxwell and James Faulkner, though, hit me inside out and slogged me over mid-wicket,” Jiyas told TOI.

Australia Call-in Kerala's Chinaman Bowler To Counter Kuldeep Yadav Threat 1

Jiyas is a chinaman bowler from the state of Kerala. He is yet to make his First-class or List A debut. Jiyas has been the part of the Delhi Daredevils in the past and Sridharan Sriram, the bowling coach of the franchise, called in the mystery spinner to facilitate his boys some practice against the chinaman spin.

Jiyas is often called as Maxwell from the state of Kerala due to facial resemblance with the Australian all-rounder.

On Chennai pitch, where the first ODI is to be played, the spin will play a big role. The Indian team possess an advantage over Australia in this aspect as apart from the surprise element in the form of Kuldeep Yadav, they also have a leg-spin bowler, i.e., Yuzvendra Chahal, who did well in the series against Sri Lanka.

Both of them are expected to be in the playing XI with Axar Patel being dropped for the game as Kedar Jadhav is always available as the third spinner in the team whenever the captain needs his services.
