Australia's Chief Selector Bats for James Faulkner to Come Good against India 1

The Cricket Australia’s (CA) chief selector Trevor Hohns believes the bowling all-rounder James Faulkner has now grabbed a golden chance to make full use of the grand opportunity, as he further feels the bowler has the quality experience on his back when it comes to acclimatise conditions in the subcontinent.

“We hope that he will take his chance in returning to the one-day side.” Hohns was quoted as saying by AFP.

After Australia Board announced the squad for the upcoming limited-overs series against formidable India, Faulkner has been inducted into the side after being overlooked for the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy, in England and Wales.

Owing to the vast amount of experience in India to featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has further made Faulkner a strong contender for the upcoming ODI series.

“James is a solid one-day campaigner and is very familiar with subcontinent conditions, coming off a very good tour of Sri Lanka last year,” Hohns added.

Moreover, the limited-overs series also includes three Twenty20 Internationals, as the Steven Smith-led side would play their final tour game on October 13. Pertinently in 2015, when Australia clinched the coveted trophy of 50-over World Cup against arch-rivals New Zealand under the leadership of Michael Clarke, saw Faulkner playing the significant part with the ball.

The Launceston-born Faulkner bagged three crucial wickets after conceding 36 runs in nine overs – to see the visitors then led by Brendon McCullum being bundled out on 183 in 46 overs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Faulkner was adjudged Man of the Match for his splendid performance, as he also delivered a maiden while giving away the runs at an economy of exactly four.

Having the ability to turn the game on its head, the left-arm fast bowler Faulkner, who made his international debut in 2012, has been eventually among the wickets for Australia.
