Australia Need To Come Up With A Plan To Succeed Against Virat’s Men, Feels Darren Lehmann

Australian coach Darren Lehmann has a dropped a worrying hint for the visitors saying despite watching the videos of Indian players on a regular interval, his side’s bowlers are yet to come up with a plan to succeed against Virat’s men in the forthcoming Test series against India in February.

Glaring at the numbers, Australia hasn’t won a Test match in Asia since 2012 and would be eager to break the jinx and having to realise they were whitewashed 4-0 by India in their last outing in 2013.

India, on the other hand, have had a great home season so far with their captain Virat Kohli happy to lead the run chart. In the England series, Virat hammered 655 runs, including an impressive double ton in Mumbai. Karun Nair, a Mumbai batsman also notched his maiden triple hundred in the series too.

To come up with a batting dominated side like India and in their home conditions, any side would require not a single plan but an array of different strategies. Talking to media during Australia’s preparatory camp in Dubai, coach Darren Lehmann said the Aussies need to bowl well and would love to have some luck sitting by their side too.

“Bowl well and have a bit of luck along the way. For us we’re going to have to come up with an ideal plan that works for us, depending on (the) wickets and what’s going on. At the end of the day you’re going to have to bowl enough good balls and that’s going to be the challenge for our spinners and for our quicks, challenging his defense and making sure he’s playing in the areas we want him to play.”

The challenging task for the visitors would be to take 20 wickets and boof, as many would call Darren Lehmann in Australia, said they have the quality spinners and the pace attack to deal with the reverse swing which makes sure 20 Indian wickets are falling apart in a Test match.

“We’ve got spinners who can take 20 wickets and quicks who can reverse the ball. So we’re not fearing getting the 20 wickets, we’ve just got to put enough scoreboard pressure on them.”
