The Ashes may have seen an overhaul in its next edition as Cricket Australia wants the 2017-2018 Ashes against England will have a day-night fixture for the first time.
The officials of CA feel it is a “natural progression” following the first ever day-night Test against new Zealand at Adelaide Oval in 2015.

Cook said the Ashes is “not a series where you need to do it exactly at this time”, while Smith said the fixture “always gets the viewers and crowds out”.
Sutherland said he had “respect” for such views, but added: “We will play somewhere between zero and two day-night tests during the Ashes in 18 months’ time.”
The 139th Ashes is scheduled to run from November 2017 until January 2018, with England the holders of the Ashes urn following their 3-2 series win in 2015.
Before then, Australia will play a day-night Test against Pakistan and South Africa in December at Adelaide Oval.
