Ashton Agar, the all-rounder from Australia, has joined the chorus alongside paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile accusing the national selectors of not having proper communication with him. The left-arm spinner, who was a part of the South Africa series had to forego his place in favour of Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa.
Meanwhile, the three-match One-Day International series will commence from January 12 (Saturday) at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The selectors left Agar in the dark as to what parts of his game he needs to work on to win back his spot. Ashton Agar said the communication in the past had been much better. In addition to, the omission at this stage puts his chances of making his case for a World Cup spot in jeopardy.
“Guess I mustn’t have run the drinks well enough last time, because I didn’t really get a crack at that before,” Agar said. “Recently, it has been pretty vague, to be honest. Pretty much it was just that Nathan Lyon is bowling really well and Zamps gives us a leg-spinning option. But I guess that probably had nothing to do with me as such. I got told pretty much just keep trying to get better,” he added.
