India National Cricket Team opener, Rohit Sharma spilt beans on a possible India squad for the 2019 World Cup. Ahead of the SCG ODI on Saturday, Rohit attended the press conference and revealed about the team combination. He admitted no significant changes would be there in the 2019 World Cup squad. Rohit Sharma also said until and unless an injury to someone takes place, India will head to England with familiar faces.

“More or less you’ll see the same squad playing the World Cup, there will be one or two changes keeping in mind form & injury concerns over the next few months. But I don’t see any drastic change in the squad. However, I still feel everything will depend on the form of each player,”

The India opener pressed hard on the fact that form would also play a role in team selection. He said the players could not take this opportunity lightly, and everyone needs to be on the top of their game.

“Nobody is guaranteed to that flight to England as yet. We’ve to be in prime form. Each & every player that will be taking part in the World Cup, all of us are aware of that, we need to keep performing & make sure that come to the World cup, we’re ready for it,”

As India gears up for the first ODI, captain Virat Kohli would want his players to know their role. Meanwhile, the name of the former captain, MS Dhoni rolled-up in the PC. Rohit Sharma, who had made his debut under MS backed the veteran to hit gears. Though the 37-year old has been out of form, Rohit has put his weight behind MS’ experience; and said he is just one inning away from getting back to form.

“Over the years we’ve seen the kind of presence he has in the dressing room and on the field. With him being around, there’s calmness around the group, it’s also a bit of a help to the captain, also going down the batting order & that finishing touch is very important.”

However, India will face Australia in three-match ODI series, starting January 12th in Sydney.
