Australia vs India 2018/19: Indian players pay tribute to Ramakant Achrekar

India are eyeing history as they are taking on Australia in the ongoing fourth and final Test in Sydney. Virat Kohli & Co. are just one draw away from registering a historic Test series win. India are yet to win a Test series on the Australian soil and have a golden opportunity to break the duck in the ongoing series. The tourists have already taken an unassailable 2-1 lead in the four-match series and just a draw would be enough to secure the series.

With so much at stake, there are little doubts that the Indian players will fight fiercely in the ongoing game. However, the game started on an emotional note for the Indian camp. The Indian players came out on the field wearing black armbands. The reason behind the same was that the players paid respect to Ramakant Achrekar who passed away on Wednesday aged 87. Achrekar, one of the most famous cricket coaches in this country, will always be remembered for giving the country so many players most notable Sachin Tendulkar.

Other famous players who learned their cricket from Achrekar are Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Chandrakant Pandit, Lalchand Rajput, Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Pravin Amre, Sameer Dighe, Ajit Agarkar, Paras Mhambrey, Ramesh Powar.

Meanwhile, Team India have made a good start with the bat in Sydney. Virat Kohli once again won the toss and decided to bat first without any hesitation. But they suffered a setback in the very beginning when the recalled out-of-form opener KL Rahul departed for just 9 after edging a Josh Hazlewood delivery in the slip cordon. However, Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara soon helped India regain the control.

The two batted solidly and did not let Australia take any more wicket before lunch. At lunch, India were 69 for 1.
