Australia vs India 2018-19: Virat Kohli Breaks Don Bradman’s Record
India skipper Virat Kohli left behind Don Bradman during his 44-run knock in the first Test against Australia in Adelaide.
Four years ago when India skipper Virat Kohli toured Australia with the Test side, he had set Adelaide to fire with two stunning centuries. He was out for just three in the first innings of the game. In the second innings, he looked in good form but could only manage 44 before offering a catch to Aaron Finch at short leg. However, it did not stop the 30-year old to achieve a major milestone. He became the fastest Indian to score 1000 Test runs for India in Australia when he scored his sixth run in the second innings.
Apart from Kohli, three other Indians who have scored 1,000 Test runs in Australia are Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid. Tendulkar scored 1809 runs off 38 innings , Laxman scored 1236 runs in 29 innings while Dravid scored 1143 in 30 innings.

Kohli also became the only Indian skipper to score 2000 Test runs in away matches. The right-handed batsman is also the first Indian captain to score 2000 Test runs both in India and overseas.
What further adds gloss to the achievement is that Kohli surpassed the legendary Don Bradman to become the fastest to score 1,000 Test runs in Australia. The former Australia skipper had crossed the mark in his 10th Test at home. On the other hand, Kohli did the same in nine Tests.
The Delhi star will have an opportunity to break yet another record. Kohli is just one century of shy of breaking Tendulkar’s record and become the Indian with most Test centuries in Australia. Kohli has so far scored five Test centuries Down Under, one less than Tendulkar.
