The India National Cricket Team captain, Virat Kohli says he and his unit are happy with this tour. Meanwhile, India has conquered Australia across two formats; winning the Tests and ODIs. Though the Indian team retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2-1, the visitors came back strong to win the ODIs 2-1, after losing the first ODI. Virat Kohli, during the post-match conference, said the team had given a balanced performance, and they are ready for the 2019 World Cup. Also, the captain Kohli talked about MS Dhoni post his unbeaten knock at the MCG.
We are ready for the World Cup, says Kohli
The 2019 World Cup is a mere four months away, and all the teams are looking for a settled unit. The India National Cricket Team, however, seemed to have found their mojo heading into the mega event. With the core remaining to be the same, a few alterations here and there are that would be done.
As India had thrashed Australia in the ODI series, Kohli added looking at the World Cup, the squad seems to be ready. Furthermore, as a skipper, he is delighted to see his team members giving everything possible in all three series (T20Is, Tests and ODIs).
“We are very happy with this tour, as a team we did our best in all three series. As a captain, I am very happy because the team has given a balanced performance which is a good sign ahead of the World Cup.”
He (Dhoni) is an intelligent guy – Kohli
Virat Kohli backed his teammate and former captain, MS Dhoni. The India veteran has been under the hammer for inconsistency in the white-ball cricket. Even during the Australia ODIs, Dhoni received the flak for his second slowest fifty at the SCG. Later, twin fifties in the following games ensured India cross the winning line. Also, he got adjudged as the Player of the Series too.
Virat Kohli, expressing his delight to have someone like MS Dhoni in the dressing room; said people might say a lot of stuff to him, but one must know, no one is more committed to the game than him.
“On the outside people say a lot of things but people should let him have his space. No one is more committed than Dhoni. He is an intelligent guy.”
India will now face New Zealand in the five ODIs and three T20Is, which begins on January 23rd.
