Australia vs India 2018: Batting Coach Sanjay Bangar Jets off to Sydney to Assist Test Specialists

India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar has flown to Syndey to assist Test specialists ahead of the first Test match at Adelaide. The tourists will play their four-day warm-up match at Sydney Cricket Ground from 28 November. Meanwhile, India’s Test specialists Prithvi Shaw, Parthiv Patel, Murali Vijay, Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane have arrived in Sydney from New Zealand.

Prithvi Shaw, Parthiv Patel, Murali Vijay, Hanuma Vihari had scored half-centuries for India A against New Zealand A. Thus, these four in-form batsmen will look to carry on the same form in Australia. Subsequently, these five Test specialists will sweat it out in the practice nets under the tutelage of batting coach, Sanjay Bangar.

Bangar has done a fine job.

“Our batting coach Bangar has reached Sydney with one of our throwdown expert Nuwan and a logistics manager. The Test specialists have also arrived from New Zealand. They will train under Bangar ahead of the first class match on November 28,” a BCCI official privy to the development told PTI on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, this is a maiden tour for Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari. Thus, both of these talented batsmen will like to put their best foot forward in the forthcoming series.

It is going to be a maiden tour for Shaw and Vihari.

“Both Prithvi and Hanuma are on their first tour of Australia. Till November 25, they would be training under Bangar along with Ajinkya Rahane, Murali Vijay and Parthiv Patel,” said the official.

“Ravi (Shastri) is there and with seniors like Virat (Kohli) and Rohit (Sharma) around, it’s only better that Sanjay helps the first timers with inputs about Australian conditions.”

The BCCI official has confirmed that there would be no Indian bowlers available to bowl to these batters. However, New South Wales bowlers will be provided by Cricket Australia.

“With our second line of pacers in New Zealand and Ranji Trophy on, we felt that we shouldn’t pull out any bowler who are currently playing competitive matches. We have spoken to Cricket Australia and quality net bowlers from New South Wales will be provided,” said the BCCI official.

Sanjay Bangar has done a fine job while nurturing the skills of the Indian batsmen. Therefore, it would be a good chance for these batsmen to get acclimatized to the conditions and perform to the best of their ability.
