Australia vs India 2018: Fans Slam Under-Performer ‘Krunal Pandya’ for Brisbane Loss
Jan 9, 2019 at 3:33 PM
India all-rounder Krunal Pandya had a forgettable outing in the 1st T20I against Australia in Brisbane, as the fans brutally trolled him on Twitter. However, Australia had won the first game of the three-match T20Is by four runs (DLS method) at the Gabba.
Krunal proved ‘costly’ for India
Moreover, Australia star, Glenn Maxwell hammered Krunal Pandya for three consecutive sixes, as he tore through the tactics of the Indian team. Maxi thumped Pandya for three consecutive sixes, as he was all over him during the spell. However, it was Glenn Maxwell’s all-round show which helped Australia draw first blood in the series.
Meanwhile, some of the experts and fans were surprised with Krunal Pandya’s selection over Chahal in the first game. A few also pointed out that all-rounder Ravindra could have been the right option, as he had a lot of experience in his back. Though Virat backed Krunal, he went wicketless and gave away 55 runs in his full quota of four overs.
Furthermore, the left-hander also failed to provide runs with his bat. He only managed to score two off four balls. The elder of the Pandya brothers is now placed third on the list of worst bowling figures by an Indian in the shortest format of the game. Previously, Joginder Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal got named on the unwanted list.
In addition to, the left-arm spinner made his T20I debut against the Windies in the recently concluded T20I series. However, he had a good outing on his debut at Eden Gardens where he picked up a wicket and had scored 21 runs to gain a victory over the Carribean side. In the next two matches, he didn’t get the opportunity to bat and failed to scalp a single wicket as well.
Meanwhile, the fans trolled the 27-year-old on Twitter and also said how team selection cost India in the game:
India paid the price for dropping Chahal.
Krunal Pandya bowled 4 overs for 55 runs & no wicket. India would have been chasing 20 runs less in all likelihood if Chahal was playing. Play Krunal as batsman if you want to, but not as replacement to Chahal.#AUSvsIND— Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) November 21, 2018
India are flirting with danger so close to the World Cup. Playing Krunal Pandya in place of @yuzi_chahal , Virat giving up No 3 to Rahul, not having potential World Cuppers Rayudu (No 4) and Kedar (No 6) in T20 in Aus will be prone to questions #AusvsInd

Its stupid to select players who have performed on flat wickets on Indian soil for a series to be played in Australia. Krunal Pandya doesn't qualify to be in the squad at the first place.

India lost because the match was set but players threw away their wicket at crucial time and we lost it. Also I think Krunal Pandya doesn't deserve place in this team as he has no batting technique and his bowling is ordinary. https://t.co/Dzdfbz09PY

Mad Max driving Krunal Pandya nuts with his big hitting. India under serious pressure. Could well be chasing 200 unless they get him soon

Krunal Pandya conceded 55 runs today from 4 overs
– The third most by an Indian bowler in T20Is
– The third most by a bowler in Australia in T20Is#AUSvIND— Umang Pabari (@UPStatsman) November 21, 2018
@bcci needs to understand players like Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya are not playing cricket to win but just to make money and party around whole year. Money has gone to their head. Really sad selection. #AUSvIND

1 wicket for Krunal Pandya in 4 matches that he has played so far…
Bowling avg-133.Economy-8.31.
He is playing as a second spinner instead of Chahal..
His batting is a advantage I know but he bats at no 7..& most of the days he will not get to bat.@cricketaakash#INDvAUS— Bishal Pandey (@BishalPandey07) November 21, 2018
