Australia vs India 2018: Glenn McGrath Predicts Australia to Whitewash India

With no Steven Smith and David Warner in the Australian team, many believe that the Indian team will start the series as favorites. However, former Australian legendary fast bowler Glenn McGrath believes it will be a close series despite no Smith and Warner in the Australian team. McGrath has predicted Australia will clean sweep India but they would have to play really well. In fact, there is no doubt that Smith and Warner were Australia’s best batsmen and their absence has left a big void.

However, since the ball-tampering incident, the Australian team has slipped down to new lows. They haven’t been able to come up with consistent performances and their form is a cause of concern. The Aussies recently lost both limited-overs series against the South Africans.

It will be a close series.

“The hole that Steven Smith and David Warner have left will be difficult to fill. But it is a great opportunity for any young batsmen, if they can perform well they can cement their place in the Australian team. I think it will be an interesting series, but Australia will still win 4-0”, McGrath said while talking to India Today.

“But seriously, without Smith and Warner, it will be close series. Australia will have to play really well if they have to win,” the former great added.

On the other hand, Glenn McGrath talked about Virat Kohli’s captaincy skills. McGrath said as long as Kohli is scoring runs, his captaincy is going to be good but the real test will be when he goes through a rough patch.

McGrath also heaped praises on India’s bowling line-up which has shown an upward swing in their improvement graph. Meanwhile, the former legend believes Australia’s pace trio will need to stay fit as a fiddle to trouble the Indian batsmen.

India will begin their Australia tour with the first T20I on November 21 at the Gabba.
