Team India begins their long tour of Australia as the favourites with a Twenty20 International in the three-match series at the Gabba on November 21 (Wednesday).
Meanwhile, the men in blues have won four of six games they have played in Australia to date including the last T20I series played in Australia in 2016. India, who want to make a mark this time around in Australia, will look to begin well.

As it is, the challenge could be a tough one on the fast and bouncy pitch at the Gabba, which India vice-captain Rohit Sharma considers as the fastest in Australia. India, who are currently at the second spot behind Pakistan, can reduce the gap if they whitewash the hosts in the T20Is.

Here is how the series results can affect the ICC T20I rankings:
India 2-1 Australia:
A defeat would keep India’s tally the same at 127 points while Australia would also hold on to their current position at 4. However, their rating point will go down to 115 from 116.

India 1-2 Australia:
A series defeat by 2-1 margin would keep the men in blues at the second spot in the rankings. On the other hand, Australia would gain one place to climb up to 3rd position with 119 points. India, on the other hand, would lose two rating points to come down to 125.

India 3-0 Australia:
With a clean sweep in the T20I series, the visitors would accumulate two more rating points which would take their tally to 129 points. The results will keep the Men in Blue at 2nd spot in the rankings, with Pakistan leading with 138 points. Australia, however, will drop down to 6th spot with 112 points.
India 1-1 Australia:
In case a match is abandoned, and both sides win one game each, the teams’ positioning in the ICC Rankings would remain the same, but a change of one rating point in each team’s tally would be witnessed, with India losing one and Australia gaining one.
