Australia vs India 2018: India Favourites to Win the Test Series – Shane Warne

The legendary Australian spinner, Shane Warne has declared team India as the outright favorites for the upcoming four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series in Australia.

Meanwhile, the Aussies are going through a rough phase triggering concern over their poor batting. Recently, they went down by 21 runs against South Africa in a rain-marred T20I game. India will be keen to script history this time around, with the home side missing two of their star cricketers.

The visiting side is yet to win a Test series with its best result being a 1-1 draw in 2003-04 against an Australian team that was missing both Glenn McGrath and Warne due to injury and suspension respectively. Shane Warne believes they have the firepower to break that duck this summer.

For the first that I can remember India come to Australia in the Test matches as favourites,” Warne said on Fox Cricket. “I think their (Australia’s) batting is in disarray in all forms of the game. They need to do something about it pretty quickly. India, they smell blood, and they don’t fear Australia,” he added.

India will arrive in Australia as the world’s best Test team, according to the International Cricket Council’s rankings, but with plenty to prove after a lacklustre run of results away from the subcontinent.

Virat Kohli & Co had a horrific time when they toured South Africa and England this year. They visited as the best visiting side but lost both the series by a fair margin. They went down against the Proteas by 2-1 while England defeated by a considerable margin of 4-1.

Thus, they will be keen to overturn their poor record and do well in the Down Under when the Test series starts from December 6 at Adelaide.
