India’s tour match is extended to four days after Board of Control for Cricket in India’s request. The practice match will begin from 28 November at Sydney Cricket Ground. Thus, it would be a good opportunity for the Indian players to get acclimatized to the Australian conditions. Meanwhile, it is good to see the Indian team management is learning from its past mistakes.
India had not played any warm-up matches on the tour of South Africa as they were strangled on schedule. Subsequently, they played only one three-day practice match against Essex on the England tour before the Test series.
Indian batters will look to acclimatize to the Australian conditions.
“We can confirm the tour match between the Cricket Australia XI and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground will now be a four-day match, starting on November 28,” a CA spokesperson said.
“We have worked with the BCCI around a request for additional match preparation for their team ahead of the four-match Domain Test Series against Australia, and were happy to accommodate this by scheduling an extra day as part of this fixture, at the same venue of the fourth Test match of the series.”
Meanwhile, it would be a good chance for the Indian batsmen to get familiar with the conditions. On the other hand, India will take on Cricket Australia XI before the first Test. Cricket Australia XI schedule is yet to be announced. Usman Khawaja is expected to return to the squad after he was ruled out due to the knee injury while playing against Pakistan.
Hanuma Vihari, Murali Vijay, Parthiv Patel, and Prithvi Shaw had all scored fifties for India A against New Zealand A recently. Thus, these batters will like to carry forward their form to Australia.
The first Test match will take place from November 6 at Adelaide. The first T20I will take place today at Brisbane.
