Australia vs India 2018: Murali Kartik Want Ravindra Jadeja to be India’s Second Spinner Ahead of Kuldeep Yadav
Former Indian spinner and now turned commentator Murali Kartik wants Ravindra Jadeja to be India’s second choice spinner ahead of Kuldeep Yadav. Ravichandran Ashwin is going to be India’s first choice tweaker in the forthcoming Test series against Australia. Ravindra Jadeja had performed well in the fifth and final Test match against England.

Jadeja scored an unbeaten 86 at the Oval to keep India in the game. The southpaw spinner also scalped five wickets in the final Test. Furthermore, Jadeja went on to score his maiden Test hundred in the first Test match against the Windies. Thus, Jadeja is in good form in the red ball version. Furthermore, Jadeja is in sublime form in the domestic circuit.
Jadeja is in good form.
On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav had got his chance in the second Test match at Lord’s against England, however, the conditions were not suited for a spinner. Yadav scalped his maiden five-wicket haul against the Windies and has performed consistently in the white ball format. Therefore, the mystery chinaman spinner is also pushing for his place in the Test side.

“It is not a 15-member or a 16-member squad. There is no question of limiting your option. They have got enough people there. They have covers for every player. I think whatever they have in terms of ammunition, I think, everyone is there in Australia,” opined Kartik.
Kartik said it would be interesting to how Rishabh Pant will fare out. Pant has done a decent job with the bat, however, he still needs to pull his socks in the wicketkeeping department.
“Someone like Wriddhiman Saha has not recovered who is among the best keepers in the country and it will be interesting to see how Rishabh Pant is going to play there. It will be closely contested series,” he said.
Murali Kartik believes Ravindra Jadeja should be India’s second choice spinner if they decide to play with two spinners. Kartik said there is no reason to drop Jadeja after his good performance in the recent past.

Kuldeep has also done well.
“It is a very tough one (to pick either Kuldeep or Jadeja). But if you look at Ravindra Jadeja’s performance in Test cricket, there is no reason for him to get dropped. It all depends on the surface. Some would say Kuldeep should play. There is a general perception that Adelaide and Sydney are more suitable to spinners but it is not necessary that ball will spin there because these pitches are flat tracks.”
Ravindra Jadeja has done a good job in the recent past. In fact, India is likely to go with a full-packed pace attack and they would have Ashwin in the first place. The first Test match will take place at Adelaide from December 6.
