Ravichandran Ashwin, the premier Test spinner of team India, is currently gearing up for the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series starting from December 6. India will bank on him as they aim to script history in the Down Under following their poor show in South Africa and England.

Meanwhile, India embarked their journey with a four runs loss in the opening Twenty20 international at the Gabba. Chasing a target of 174 runs in 17 overs due to the DLS method, India could only manage 169 runs. The spinners from both the sides played a crucial role with Adam Zampa and Kuldeep Yadav striking twice each.

Although Ravichandran Ashwin is not a part of the T20I squad, he is keeping a close tab on the proceedings. Watching the success the spinners are getting, Ashwin took to micro-blogging site Twitter to praise the ground behind it.

County stint and simplifying my action helped me: Ashwin

The boundary sizes in Australia phew— is a delight for the bowlers. #AusvInd,” Ashwin tweeted as the spinners weaved magic in the opening T20I.

However, a fan was quick to question Ashwin’s calibre asking him how many six he has gone for in Australia. Ravichandran Ashwin got back with the statistics during India’s last T20I series against Australia in their backyard.

The men in blues inflicted a 3-0 whitewash with Ashwin playing a crucial role with the ball.

2 for 26, 1 for 27 and 1 for 37 in the 3-0 win last series. Thanks buddy,” Ashwin tweeted.

Meanwhile, another follower jumped to question Ravichandran Ashwin records against Australia back there. The Tamil Nadu born off-spinner shut the fan with a befitting reply asking him to check the record books.
